News brief: Ukraine’s 1+1 preps new female-skewing channel

Ukrainian free-to-air broadcaster 1+1 is preparing to launch a new female-skewed entertainment channel.

The new digital service will roll out on January 13, 2014, replacing Real Estate TV.

1+1 said it will be programmed with local content and acquired programming. It will be run by Elena Tovstenko who said: “We already have male-skewed channels, but not niche channels for women even though they watch more television.”

She added: “We guarantee that the content will be very high quality and interesting for the female audience.”
