Popp’s Producers at Work exits Red Arrow

Christian Popp is taking full control of Producers at Work, the German-based production company that was previously majority controlled by Red Arrow Entertainment Group.

The move comes as Red Arrow revealed it is now focusing on English-language production, primarily in the UK and US.

Popp created the company in 2005 and had a 25.1% stake in the firm with Red Arrow parent company ProSiebenSat.1 Media owning the remainder. From January, Popp will become the sole shareholder in the business, which will also continue to control film production business Magic Flight.

Red Arrow said this morning that the deal will allow it to focus more closely on the UK and US markets.

Jan Frouman, managing director of Red Arrow Entertainment Group: “Since 2005, the production market has changed a lot for fictional television programmes in Germany. At the same time, the focus of Red Arrow Entertainment Group is now on the production of English-language fiction. We are convinced that Producers at Work and Magic Flight Film have great potential as an independent production companies in Germany and wish Christian Popp and his team every success for the future.”

Popp said: “We will take the step of becoming independent with a promising series of new project developments underway such as ARD’s evening series Monaco 110, which we have been making since November.”

Producers at Work makes shows including long-running Sat.1 telenovela Anna und die Liebe and drama series Hand aufs Herz and Dr. Molly & Karl.
