News brief: US Survivor reaches 30

CBS has commissioned two more seasons of evergreen competition reality series Survivor, taking it into its 30^th edition.

The most recent edition, Survivor: Blood Vs. Water, ends with a finale show and a one-hour live reunion programme this Sunday (December 16).

Mark Burnett and host Jeff Probst will executive produce seasons 29 and 30, which go out in the 2014-15 season.

Overall to this point, Survivor has run for 413 episodes. It currently averages 11.3 million viewers in its Wednesday 8pm slot on US broadcaster CBS.
