FremantleMedia’s Aussie drama in maiden Filipino deal

FremantleMedia-distributed Australian drama Winners and Losers has been picked up by a Filipino free-TV network – a deal that’s said to mark the first time such an agreement has taken place.

Local broadcast and cable channel operator Solar Entertainment has acquired seasons one to three of the series, which has already sold to the likes of ITV2 in the UK and RTE One in Ireland. The Seven Network series debuted in 2011.

Solar has also acquired Anna Wintour-fronted competition reality series The Fashion Fund, David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal) medical drama Monday Mornings and season three of Lisa Kudrow digital comedy Web Therapy.

The deals come as part of 1,200 hours FremantleMedia International has sold to producers across Asia.

Other agreements see 580 hours of multi-genre programming going to on-demand platform Toggle.sg, which operates in Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines and The Fashion Fund going to a pair of Thai broadcasters, namely free-TV channel Workpoint TV and pay net TrueVisions.

The latter has also bought Hulu original series Behind the Mask, the one-off feature documentary I Am Steve McQueen and factual special Asteroids: Doomsday or Payday?.

Eslewhere, Filipino network Lifestyle has bought entertainment shows Young Hollywood’s Greatest… and Young Hollywood’s Presents Evolution Of… and high concept drama Full Circle.
