News brief: Amazon adds new movies to streaming service

Amazon has agreed a content deal with A24.

It will add movies from the studio to its Prime Instant Video service giving it the indie distributor’s current and upcoming movie titles.

Current A24 movies include Spring Breakers, Ginger & Rosa and The Bling Ring. Forthcoming titles include Under The Skin, starring Scarlett Johansson, and The Rover starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.

“As an independent film distributor, our relationship with Amazon Prime Instant Video marks the next generation in output deals. It speaks to the larger shift in customers’ consumption habits,” said Matthew Bires, COO, A24 Films.
