BSkyB adds 14 channels to mobile service

BSkyB has added 14 entertainment channels to its Sky Go mobile TV service.

New channels on the service include MTV, with Geordie Shore available on demand; Comedy Central, offering shows including South Park; UKTV channels Gold, Watch, Dave, Good Food, Eden and Alibi; Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet; and History, including Ice Road Truckers (pictured) and Pawn Stars available on demand.

The pay TV broadcaster has also added a range of ABC TV ‘box set’ programmes to Sky Go for Entertainment Extra+ customers, including Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy.

Sky said that 219,000 customers upgraded to download-for-offline-viewing service Sky Go Extra in the quarter to September.

“Sky Go has gone from strength to strength since it launched in July 2011 and now attracts over three million unique users quarterly,” said Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s brand director of TV products.

“The addition of these new channels is part of our continued commitment to provide our customers with a great TV experience whenever and wherever they want it, all at no extra cost. Customers now have even more choice and flexibility whether they want to watch TV box sets, live Barclays Premier League football, the latest blockbustersb from Sky Movies or awarding-winning drama from a wider range of entertainment channels.”
