Keshet Canada has unveiled its first deal, which will see it bring Israeli format Marathon to the Canuck market.
The venture, which is a joint operation between Keshet International and Canadian media veteran Mark Rubenstein, will co-develop and coproduce the docu-reality format with Fadoo Productions.
Marathon launched in Israel on Keshet-operated Channel 2 scored a 29.5% share. Endemol Israel produces the original for Keshet Broadcasting. The primetime, six part series follows the stories of six regular people with no athletic background who are brought together to train for a marathon eight months later.
“We are eager to introduce this format to the Canadian marketplace,” said Corey Russell, president of Fadoo, a Toronto-based prodco behind doc series On the Edge. “With interest in marathon running at an all-time high in this country, the show will instantly connect with audiences as it documents the moving journeys of everyday people working toward a common goal.”
