News brief: The X Factor introduces Shazam voting

US viewers of The X Factor will be able to vote for their favourite artists via Shazam for the first time from early next month.

Using the Shazam app viewers will be able to vote and to buy songs performed by the acts on the show. There will also be additional video and X Factor content accessible via the app.

“The X Factor is that perfect marriage of music and television,” said Shazam CEO Rich Riley. “We are thrilled to work with Fox, Syco and FremantleMedia North America in this first-of-its-kind chance for The X Factor fans to use the Shazam App to vote for their favorite acts.”
