Turkey’s D-Smart snags Sony output deal

BlacklistTurkish pay TV platform D-Smart has agreed a multiyear content deal with Sony Pictures Television.

The Dogan TV-owned pay TV operator will get a raft of SPT TV series and movie titles under the terms of the deal in the first pay TV window.

The Turkish company gets pay TV and digital rights to the SPT content, allowing it to show SPT movies and series on TV and to connected computers and mobile devices.

It has on-demand rights meaning it can make the shows available on its D-Smart Blu service. It will also show movies in 3D where applicable.

Series covered by the deal include buzzy James Spader crime drama The Blacklist (pictured) as well as The Michael J. Fox Show and Bad Teacher. It will get movie titles including Men in Black II, Hancock, The Mask of Zorro as well as classic offerings such as Gandhi and Kramer vs. Kramer.
