eOne shopping drama series based on Brit flick Skeletons

Entertainment One is pitching a TV series to broadcasters based on the 2010 UK movie Skeletons.

The producer and distributor was talking to potential partners about the project at MIPCOM last week and a senior eOne source told TBI that two, currently named, channels are in pole position to come on board the series.

UK-listed eOne has a fully-fledged movie business and distributes features including The Hunger Games, but Skeletons is not one of its titles.

The film, billed as a surreal comedy, followed two travelling salesmen who remove [figurative] skeletons from closets. It starred Ed Gaughan (Black Mirror), Andrew Buckley (Extras) and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter).

The film was well critically well received when it launched in 2010 and picked up a number of awards including Best New British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The feature’s writer and director, Nick Whitfield, also picked up the BAFTA outstanding debut by a British writer/director/producer award in 2011 for the film (see trailer below).

The project is eOne’s second movie-to-television project. It is also working up a TV version of the Sylvester Stallone movie Rambo.
