Canada’s CMJ hires Occhicone to run new factual unit

Occhicone-HEADSHOTCanadian indie CMJ Productions II has created a new production and distribution company, CMJ Concepts.

CMJ has brought on Lou Occhicone to run the new division, which will contribute finance and take rights to third-party factual series.

The new firm will debut at MIPCOM next month, taking a space in the Canadian Pavilion.

It’s launch slate includes 13x60mins holidays gone wrong series Bad Trip, 13x60mins Boogeymen, about small towns with mythical monsters and 13x60mins unusual buildings series Home Made.

Parent group CMJ has already coproduced series including The Will and A Stranger in my Home, both for Discovery’s ID channel in the US.

Occhicone left troubled distributor CableReady earlier this year, having been at the firm since 2000.
