TNT goes Under the Dome

Under the Dome largeLatin American pay TV channel TNT has acquired exclusive regional rights to CBS’s Stephen King-penned miniseries Under the Dome.

The deal, scored with CBS Studios International, will see the sci-fi show launch on the turner Broadcasting-owned entertainment channel in November.

Following its stellar performance in the US, where it has become the highest rated scripted summer series in more than two decades with an average 14.5 million audience, a second season has been commissioned and TNT has rights to both.

The CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television-produced series has already sold to the likes of Channel 5 in the UK. It follows a community that becomes mysteriously trapped inside a huge dome.

Mariano Cesar, VP and general manager of TNT Latin America, said: “With the acquisition of Under the Dome broadcast rights, we’ve secured for our viewers one of the most recent successes in the American television industry. The quality script, the engaging plot and Stephen King’s trademark will allow the show to go beyond the expectations of the genres’ fans, attracting a wide viewing audience.”
