Starz making comedy with basketball star Lebron James

US cable net Starz is making Survivor’s Remorse, a half-hour comedy series starring NBA star Lebron James.

James, who plays for the Miami Heat, will exec produce the show along with Tom Werner, the ex ABC programming exec and Casey Werner cofounder who launched series including Mork and Mindy and who is now chairman of the Boston Red Sox.

Details are scant, but the series will follow two young guys from a tough neighborhood who become rich and famous.

“I have a deep passion for the amazing television being created right now,” said James. “I love [HBO series] Boardwalk Empire, Magic City, Scandal and 24. When my business partners Tom Werner and Maverick Carter brought up the idea of creating a television series that would capture the story of what happens when you make it out, I jumped at the chance.”
