News brief: A&E cancels Glades despite ratings growth

US cable channel A&E has cancelled its drama series The Glades despite the show just posting its most-watched episode.

Though the finale of season four of the show delivered 3.4 million viewers – its most since debuting in 2010 – the A+E-owned channel has pulled the plug. It has averaged 2.6 million during its latest run at 9pm on Mondays.

The Fox Television Studios-coproduced show has been binned soon after the recommission of another drama original, Longmire. A&E is yet to make an official announcement on the latter but its co-creator John Coveny has tweeted to confirm the pick up.
