Aziz Ansari inks Netflix deal
Comedian and actor Aziz Ansari has agreed a deal with Netflix and the streaming service will debut his upcoming stand-up special Buried Alive.
Ansari, who stars in NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation, announced his plans to release the performance directly on Netflix in a Twitter post.
The comic actor has previously made his performances available direct to fans on a pay-per-download basis and said that he plans to do the same this time and will make Buried Alive available for US$5 after Netflix has had a six-month holdback.
US reports said Netflix is working with several other comedians with a view to taking rights to their stand-up performances as its original content strategy broadens from drama and kids shows into other categories of programming.
