Channel 4 buys Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Disney

Channel 4 has acquired US superhero series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The UK free-to-air broadcaster beat off competition to land the US show and said it will launch it soon after it debuts in the US as part of broadcast net ABC’s fall schedule.

Featuring characters from the Avengers movies, the series is from Joss Whedon, the producer of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble as well as hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The show is produced by ABC Studios and Disney-owned Marvel Television production and distributed by Disney’s programme sales arm.

Channel 4 chief creative officer, Jay Hunt says; “Like the Super Hero universe from which it has come, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is big, bold and absolutely exhilarating.”
