Shine scores Barcroft first-look deal

Pistorius TrialShine International has secured a first-look deal with UK indie Barcroft Productions, the company behind Megafamilies and 600lb Mum: Race Against Time.

The deal – described a “significant development and distribution” agreement – hands Shine Group’s sales arm first look at Barcroft shows in development, plus distribution of series including Pistorius Trial: The Key Questions, a 1x60mins special from two South African lawyers examining major elements of the upcoming Oscar Pistorius murder trial.

The show scored a 6.9% overall share in the UK on Channel 5, boosting its average slot by 69%.

Barcroft has also produced Megafamilies for Nat Geo Channel in the US, 600lb Mum for TLC and Help! I’m 16 But Look 16 for Channel 5.

The partnership was brokered by Barcroft founder Sam Barcroft and Shine International’s director of acquisitions Georgia Brown, who said: “Barcroft Productions has an enviable slate of genre defining content. We are thrilled to be working with such a dynamic and passionate team, helping maximise the value of their slate internationally.”
