Sonar preps Alice in Wonderland zombie series

Sonar Entertainment has acquired rights to Alice in Deadland and will develop a TV series based on Mainak Dhar’s series of dystopian novels.

The Alice in Wonderland-inspired books are set in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by the undead and a handful of human survivors.

The adventure starts when fifteen year-old Alice follows one of the undead into a hole in the ground. There are thirteen books in the series thus far.

Sonar licensed the TV rights from Barcelona-based Pontas Literary & Film Agency. Its founder Anna Soler-Pont said: “Alice in Deadland is an absolutely brutal, hilarious, sophisticated and extremely effective zombie series based on the classic Alice in Wonderland.”

“This is an exciting literary property that clearly has captured the imaginations and the hearts of fans across the world,” said Sonar CEO Stewart Till. “Mainak’s cinematic style and heart-pounding pacing make Alice in Deadland perfectly suited to be adapted for television.”
