Discovery takes rights to package of third-party docs

Discovery’s programme sales arm has inked a deal with New World Distribution and will sell a package of its feature documentaries internationally.

Discovery Enterprises International has traditionally focused on selling content from the portfolio of Discovery channels. The third-party representation deal gives DEI global first-window rights to seven films from NWD.

Under the terms of the deal, Discovery can sell the docs to its own channels as well as third-party broadcasters.

The titles in question are: The Cold War and Beyond, surf film A Deeper Shade of Blue, Middle East stand-up comedy doc Just Like Us, gay rights project Chasing Rainbows, breakdancing doc BBoy for Life, water shortage film Running Dry and Mexican drug gang story Morenita.

“Discovery Enterprises International is pleased to be working with New World Distribution to expand our growing catalogue of feature length programmes. These exceptional films are a natural fit for DEI’s product catalogue,” said Elliot Wagner, VP, DEI.
