News brief: Mountain Monsters return to Destination America

Discovery cable channel Destination America has commissioned a second season of the high rating Mountain Monsters, in which Appalachian hunters search for mythologised wilderness creatures.

The show’s first season ends this Saturday after helping Destination to its best-ever week in primetime for key advertiser demographics, prompting a recommission.

The new season will launch in 2014. The show follows the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings, who attempt to locate can capture cryto-creatures such as the Lizard Demon of Wood County that are said to reside near Appalachia’s mountain communities. Prodco American Chainsaws will return to produce.
