ITV orders more ‘Benidorm Bastards’

ITV has ordered a second series of Off Their Rockers, the senior citizen hidden-camera series based on the hit Benidorm Bastards format.

The show was created by Belgian indie Shelter for local broadcaster 2BE and the format is distributed by Red Arrow International.

The UK version was originally developed for UK pubcaster the BBC by Red Arrow-owned CPL in 2011 before ITV stepped in and took the show.

The first season performed well for the commercial broadcaster, debuting with 5.2 million and peaking with 5.7 million.

CPL’s Murray Boland executive produces the show. He said: “We’re delighted with Off Their Rockers – badly behaved old people really seem to have struck a chord with the audience.”

Red Arrow has now sold the show into more than twenty territories including into the US where it goes out on broadcast network NBC under the title Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.
