Mike Tyson to hit out on HBO

Filmmaker Spike Lee is set to bring controversial former boxer Mike Tyson’s one-man stage show to television on US cable channel HBO.

Mike Tyson: The Undisputed Truth is being filmed in New York next month and will debut on HBO Films later in the month.

The stage production of the same name debuted in spring 2012 and ran on Broadway throughout last summer. It sees Tyson recounting highs and lows from his life, including his childhood, troubled boxing career and time in jail after a rape conviction.

“I’m incredible grateful to HBO for partnering with me and believing in my story,” said Tyson.

“Mike Tyson’s one-man show is a fascinating journey into his stories, life and career and we are thrilled to have Spike Lee bring it from stage to screen,” said HBO’s president, programming, Michael Lombardo.

Lee, Tyson, Kiki Tyson, John Kilik and John Nederlander are executive producers.
