News brief: CBS Corp promotes CFO to COO

Joseph Ianniello has been promoted from CFO to COO of CBS Corp, charged with maximising monetisation of the US broadcast group’s content.

Ianniello has been CFO since 2009 and before then was deputy CFO. His responsibilities now cover all financial operations, including handling retransmission content fees and digital streaming negotiations.

“Joe’s role in CBS’s success these past several years has been extraordinary,” said CBS Corp CEO Les Moonves. “He’s been a game-changing CFO, but he’s also so much more than that. He is a tough negotiator, a great manager, and someone who brings energy, passion and a great sense of teamwork to anything he does.”

Ianniello held several roles at Viacom before the company split from CBS in 2006.
