News brief: Nova’s Oklahoma tornado doc goes global

The international sales arm of US pubcaster PBS has launched an updated version of NOVA documentary Oklahoma’s Deadliest Tornadoes following the recent storm.

PBS International has launched the doc, which includes 20 minutes of fresh material on top of that shot for a 2012 report and broadcast in the US on May 29 in PBS’s popular NOVA science strand. It is now available to global broadcasters.

“The original programme told the story of the terrifying toll suffered by Oklahoma during the deadly 2011 tornado season. In 2013 NOVA is back at the scene of a devastated community in Oklahoma where we meet up with our same experts to find out how new technologies, a better understanding of tornado science, and improved public awareness all work together to save lives,” says Melanie Wallace, senior series producer, NOVA.
