Keshet liberates Homeland format in Europe, Canada

HatufimPrisoners of War, the Israeli format on which Homeland was based, has been picked up in Europe and Canada.

Keshet International, the sales arm of the Israeli broadcaster Keshet, has shopped the series to Norway’s NRK. The Norwegian public broadcaster will air it, with subtitles, from mid-June.

In Spain distributor LUK International has acquired broadcast, DVD and VOD distribution rights for Spanish and Portuguese territories, while Universal Pictures Germany has struck a VOD and DVD deal for the series.

In Canada, Video Services Corp (VSC) has acquired the broadcast, DVD and VOD rights for the series. Both seasons will be on iTunes Canada and on Super Channel later in 2013.

In Turkey, producer Medyapim has taken an option on the format and will shop a local version to the country’s broadcasters.

Prisoners of War, is the format that Homeland is based on and follows two soldiers as they attempt to re-adjust to their lives after returning home from captivity for 17 years.
