Comedy Central gets Wood from Discovery

Viacom’s Comedy Central UK channel has recruited Brad Wood as its new head of acquisitions.

Wood joins from Discovery where he was programming manager, buying lifestyle and entertainment shows for its international channels in Western Europe.

Prior to Discovery, Wood was at Virgin Media, buying shows for Living and working as channel editor for the Challenge channel.

Wood said: “As a regular Fringe attendee and huge comedy fan I’m thrilled to be joining such an innovative, creative and growing channel.”

Comedy Central launched in the UK in 2008. Its acquired programming includes Two and a Half Men, Anger Management and Mike and Molly. From the stable of parent group Viacom, it has The Daily Show and South Park.

Its original series include Alternative Comedy Experience and Threesome.
