Hannibal Buress signs up to Comedy Central
US stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress has inked a wide-ranging development deal at Viacom-owned cable network Comedy Central.
The agreement will see Buress take a recurring role in upcoming Comedy Central series Broad City, make a one-hour stand-up special for the channel and develop and executive produce an original pilot.
All of the projects will be produced by 3 Arts.
Buress will also perform on Comedy Central’s US-wide stand-up comedy tour. The comic is a former writer on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, on which he also appeared.
Kent Alterman, president, content development and original programming, Comedy Central said: “Hannibal Buress has one of the great names in comedy. I pray he doesn’t change it.”
“This is really exciting,” said Buress. “I can finally quit my day job at Quiznos. People talk down about the Illuminati a lot but this is proof that membership has its benefits.”
