Zodiak teams with National Film and TV School for TV scholarship

Producer and distributor Zodiak Media has joined forces with the UK National Film and Television School and will start offering an annual TV production and entertainment scholarship.

Zodiak will sponsor a student on the NFTS TV Producing and Directing Television Entertainment course in 2014 and 2015, with the first scholarship awarded later this year.

The NFTS said that students from its course have gone on to sell television entertainment formats to Warner Brothers Television and ITV in recent times and UK broadcaster Channel 5 has just commissioned a documentary from its graduates.

David G. Croft, head of television entertainment, NFTS said: “I am delighted that Zodiak Media, a leading force in the global TV marketplace, is investing in the talented Producing & Directing students of the Television Entertainment department here at the NFTS. This scholarship will help us attract talented students for whom the fees might otherwise have been a barrier.”

The Television MA course covers development, scripting, production and direction of single camera and multi-camera entertainment programmes.

Zodiak added that it hoped to announce further initiatives with the NFTS. CEO David Frank said: “The sponsorship deal is only the beginning of this new relationship, and it marks our commitment to invest in future talent for the UK TV industry.”
