ABC explores Australia’s WWI

Australian broadcaster has hopped on the factual drama bandwagon with a fictionalised four-part series about Australia’s involvement in World War I.

Funding body Screen Australia has invested in 4x57mins The War that Changed Us through its National Documentary Program.

The drama will be produced by Andrew Ogilvie, directed by Don Featherstone and written by Featherstone and Clare Wright. It will tell the story how World War I changed the lives of five Australians through personal testimony, drama, expert analysis, location filming and archive material.

Screen Australia’s CEO Ruth Harley said: “Since 2005, in association with ABC Television, Screen Australia and its predecessor agencies have brought more than 70 hours of Australian history programming to the national audience.”

“The War That Changed Us has substantial Australian history heritage value, which is one of the core remits of our National Documentary Program. This documentary series is a remarkable Australian story which will be told on a grand scale,” said she added.
