MIPTV News: Keshet moves into third party sales

Israel’s Keshet International will be in Cannes next week with third party programming on its slate for the first time.

Third party titles for the sales arm of broadcaster Keshet include noir drama Light & Truth, which comes from Israeli satcaster YES DBS. The show follows the investigation into a mysterious death at an elitist high school.

YES DBS also provides romantic drama Devout Love, which has scored well in Israeli primetime, according to Keshet; youth-skewing sitcom Fox Force, about a group of teenagers that create a cult horror series in between working at a fast food chain; and Honey Africa, which centres on an ad agency that shoots a commercial in Africa but gets “more than they bargained for on arrival”.

“Moving into third party distribution is another important step in Keshet International’s expansion towards becoming not only the go-to distributor for Israeli content but also a premier provider of both scripted and non scripted original content to the global market,” said Keshet International MD Alon Shtruzman.

Keshet International will also launch new unscripted Keshet formats such as Sure or Insure, a gameshow in which families play together to win US$1 million; and Remember Me?, a docu-reality series that sees people that have made positive changes in their life go back to their former state of being to confront their old problems and peers.

In scripted, titles include Mother’s Day, which has gone to pilot in the US for CBS starring Debra Messing (Will & Grace, The Starter Wife); The A Word season two, which soon airs in Israel; and The Gordin Cell, which is in development for NBC as MICE.
