ReelzChannel buys Canadian drama

US cabsat ReelzChannel has acquired a Canadian-produced drama series from Toronto indie White Pine Pictures.

The channel has bought one-hour police/medical procedural Cracked, which broadcasts on CBC and is represented in the US by Entertainment One’s executive VP, global production, Carrie Stein.

The show comes from lead producer White Pine, in association with Group M Entertainment and BetaFilm with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund and Cogeco.

The show’s international sales agent, BetaFilm, previously scored what was reported to be one of the largest European licence fees for an all-Canadian produced TV series when it sold it to French channel operator Canal+. It has also sold to Astral’s Quebec drama channel Series+.
