MIPTV News: Rappers in the Snow drift to MIPTV

A new Absolutely Independent format that takes Dutch rappers on a life-changing trip to the Canadian wilderness is heading for Cannes.

Rappers in the Snow, which comes from iCare Producties, follows well-known Dutch hip hop artists Negativ, Keizer, Brace and Darryl as they trade in their rapper lifestyles for an expedition to Canada. Based on their experience, they create a new rap for Greenpeace.

Absolutely will also be pushing Teen Mom, Celebrity Support, which comes from SkyHigh TV and first broadcast on Ned 3.The format follows celebrities mums that step in to help young mothers as they come to terms with parenthood.

Absolutely’s director of sales and marketing Gertjan van Vaken told TBI it had performed “well against some really tough competition on Tuesday evenings” since launching in December.

Other new titles on the slate include cross media football-themed format Game On, from Finnish company MediaCity; Dutch pubcaster AVRO’s drama Blood Relatives; and Ned 3’s baking competition series Cupcakecup.
Amsterdam-based Absolutely, which was last year bought by Kees Abrahams’ new media group Imagine Nation, has also appointed a new international formats manager in time for the market. Former RTL Klub creative Emese Ács will be Cannes shopping the slate to buyers.
