MIPTV News: YouTube launching first Online Screenings

YouTube will launch a showcase for original online content at MIPTV.

The Original Online Content Screenings will run from April 8 – 11 and highlight the best content from YouTube’s official partner channels around the world.

The screenings will be hosted by Michael Stevens, the founder of YouTube science and tech partner channel Vsauce.

Participants will include DJ BBQ from Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube YouTube channel; Philip Laude, creator of Germany channel Ponk, the largest non-English-language original channel on YouTube; and Lorenzo Benedetti, president, The Social Company Production, which runs French comedy channel Studio Bagel.

“The Original Online Content Screenings set out to show the wider TV community the dynamic and innovative creativity that is abundant in the online arena, and to encourage the exchange between these web-based channels and other platforms,” said Laurine Garaude, director of MIPTV organiser Reed MIDEM’s television division.

The screenings will take place in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals.
