Dragonfly taps Channel 4 commissioner as creative director

Shine Group-backed Dragonfly Film and Television has hired Mark Raphael as its creative director. He is currently commissioning editor for documentaries at UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4 and will join the producer in May.

Raphael takes the role vacated by Simon Dickson who has became MD of the producer last November last year.

At Channel 4 Raphael has commissioned shows including Katie: My Beautiful Face, Lifers, Obsessive Compulsive Hoarder and Educating Essex.

Prior to joining C4, Raphael was head of factual at North One Television.

Channel 4 head of factual Ralph Lee said: “Mark has been a great commissioner for Channel 4, making his mark with standout series like Educating Essex and singles with impact such as Katie: My Beautiful Face. We wish Mark well in his new role and his return to the indie sector.”
