Cake takes rights to NASA-influenced Space Racers series

Kids distributor Cake has picked up international rights to a new preschool series about a space academy, Space Racers. US space agency NASA is on board as a technical consultant on the 50x11mins show.

A new company has been formed specifically to produce the show, Space Race LLC. Team members include Mark Risley (Rugrats) and Allan Neuwirth (The Octonauts).

The action comedy will be set in Stardust Bay, home of the Stardust Space Academy where Eagle, Hawk, Robyn and their fellow cadets make up a super elite space-bound task force known as the Space Racers.

Tom Van Waveren, CEO & creative director, Cake said: “In the current competitive environment that is preschool, introducing a series with a truly new point of view is something we take great pride in.”

Richard Schweiger, creator and executive producer added: “The goal for the show is to inspire children to learn more about space and science through our fun and adventurous world of talking spaceships. We believe Cake will do a tremendous job in spreading the Space Racers’ message across international markets”.
