Cineflix taps BBCWW for Lat Am sales exec

Cineflix Rights, the distribution arm of Cineflix Media, has poached a new director of sales, Latin America, from BBC Worldwide.

Christopher Gordon will be responsible for programme and format sales in Latin America, replacing Sabrina Ayala, who will now focus on sales to Iberia, Italy and France.

Gordon will be based in Cineflix’s Toronto base, reporting into Cineflix Media’s London-based CEO of rights Chris Bonney.

He joins from the BBC’s commercial wing, where he was territory manager for Iberia. During that time he scored Worldwide’s largest deals into Spain and Portugal to date. He has held roles at Sullivan Entertainment and Granada International.

Bonney said Cineflix had seen “considerable growth” in Latin America in the past few years under Ayala’s leadership and saw “lot more potential for both our factual and scripted output”.

“Christopher’s expertise and experience will help us build on our relationships with existing pan-Latin American clients and local broadcasters, as well as developing new relationships in the region as our slate evolves,” he added.
