Good Food gets taste for Scandi cooking

UKTV pay channel Good Food is getting in on the Scandinavian cookery-themed trend by acquiring a new series from Swedish chef Tareq Taylor.

Tareq Taylor’s Nordic Cookery (8x30mins) comes from Lucky Day and follows the titular chef as he introduces viewers to Scandinavian cookery. It will get its UK premiere on the channel.

UKTV’s co-parent BBC Worldwide has already acquired the series for its international BBC Lifestyle channels in the Nordics, Poland, the Middle East and Africa.

Good Food has also renewed a batch of restaurant-themed series for a second season.

World’s Weirdest Restaurants (15x30mins) comes from Beyond Distribution. Season two will premiere in the second quarter of this year. Kitchen Hero (14x30mins), which features Irish chef Donal Skehan, is from In Production, while You Gotta Eat Here (8x30mins) comes out of a deal with Portfolio.

“Good Food already features Britain’s best known chefs, but we also like to support emerging talent with Donal Skehan’s Kitchen Hero and Tareq Taylor’s Nordic Cookery introducing our viewers to a wide range of skills and recipes,” said Claire Laycock, general manager, Good Food.
