News brief: Karyn Edwards setting up Canadian indie

Karyn Edwards is leaving Canadian indie producer Brightlight Pictures (A.M.P.E.D., The Guard) to set up her own TV and movie production business.

Edwards’ Pictopia Pictures will seek to develop, finance, and produce television and feature film projects.

At Brightlight, Edwards was executive VP business & legal affairs and producer on several feature film and television projects. Her credits include upcoming miniseries Delete, which Sonar Entertainment is distributing, and CBC telemovie Mr Hockey, which premieres next month.

“This is the right time for me to move on and create my own company. I’m looking forward to creating content and forging new strategic partnerships at this exciting time in the film and television industry in Canada,” said Edwards.
