Lorraine Heggessey’s Boom backs new drama indie

Boom Pictures, the UK indie created last year by former BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey, is providing the start-up funding for a new indie, MainStreet Pictures.

The new production company is being created by Laura Mackie, currently ITV’s director of drama and Sally Haynes, ITV’s controller of drama

Both ITV execs resigned from the broadcaster last week. They will start their new company in July.

Both worked with Heggessey at the BBC. Heggessey said: “[Laura and Sally] have an unparalleled reputation for commissioning and producing high-quality returning series that have enjoyed huge success both in the UK and abroad, including the US.”

Mackie said: “After seven years as commissioners, Sally and I are looking forward to going back to our production roots and working with brilliant talent both on and off screen.”
