NATPE news: Telemundo inks wide-ranging deal with TVN

NBC Universal-owned US Hispanic broadcaster Telemundo has inked an programming and distribution deal with Chilean public broadcaster TVN.

The exclusive deal gives Telemundo US and Mexican rights to all of TVN’s telenovela scripts. Telemundo Studios in Mexico or the US will adapt the shows.

It has already produced several original novelas based on adaptations of TVN scripts including Donde está Elisa?, Alguien Te Mira and La Casa de al Lado.

Telemundo also renewed a distribution deal with TVN, under the terms of which it sells its content internationally. The agreement, first inked in 2006, has been renewed for a further five years.

“The expansion of our strategic alliance with TVN is key to Telemundo Media, as it provides an excellent source of original and innovative stories for our catalog and strengthens the network’s original programming in the United States,” said Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Internacional.
