Discovery buys Dominic Monaghan’s Wild Things

ITV Studios General Entertainment has shopped Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan to Discovery, which has acquired the travel-adventure series for its European networks.

The show will air on Discovery nets across the continent, starting with Animal Planet in the Nordic region on February 7 and followed later in the month by Animal Planet Russia and Romania.

The 8x60mins show follows Lost actor Monaghan as he searches for the biggest, scariest and weirdest creatures on the planet. Talking to TBI, he said: “This is essentially how I like to travel, I like to pick an animal and travel to a destination to discover it. “I love food and football, but the animals come first. I’m not a professor or biologist, I’m an enthusiastic traveller and I hope this will make people who don’t watch nature shows tune in and hopefully get hooked.”

The show is made by Cream Productions and Wildfire Television. It was commissioned by US cable channel BBC America.

Paul Welling, senior VP, channels, Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, adds: “From the rainforests of Ecuador to arid deserts of Namibia, Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan is a travel adventure series which combines fascinating information about some of the rarest creepy crawlies in the world with a presenter whose passion for wild things is compellingly infectious.”
