Netflix ramps up Nordic kids site following Little Princess purchase

Netflix is ramping up its kids content on its recently launched Scandinavian service after striking a deal to acquire Zodiak Kids’ animated series Little Princess.

The online streaming service has acquired the subscription video-on-demand rights to the first 30x11mins series of the show. It will launch it as part of its Just For Kids package.

Little Princess is produced by The Illuminated Film Company and is based on a series of books from author and illustrator Tony Ross.

The show has also recently been sold in Germany, with public broadcaster ZDF acquiring season three and in Sweden, where SVT picked up the first two seasons.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Netflix as part of our SVOD strategy for Zodiak Kids as we begin to make our content available through these networks. We already enjoy a strong relationship with Netflix through our sister company Zodiak Rights success with Being Human on Netflix UK & US,” said Karen Vermeulen, senior VP, global sales and coproduction, Zodiak Kids.
