CBS would consider Sony Pictures acquisition: report

CBS would consider acquiring film and television studio Sony Pictures if the company was put on the block, according to an interview with CBS CEO Les Moonves in the Wall Street Journal.

CBS said that it would look into a purchase if, as long rumoured the Japanese conglomerate was to divest its entertainment arm. However, he added that there was no deal at this stage.

“We love our current portfolio, but as a content company, we would want to look at them,” Moonves told the newspaper.

The move would create the largest Hollywood studio and in television terms, would add a raft of high profile network and cable series to CBS’s portfolio including ABC’s Last Resort and AMC’s Breaking Bad.
