Syfy to remake Banijay’s Opposite Worlds in US

US cable network Syfy is to remake Chilean reality format Opposite Worlds after striking a deal with Banijay International.

The series originally aired on Chilean broadcaster Canal 13.

The broadcaster will launch 12 episodes over six weeks. It will be produced by Smart Dog Media and will be exec produced by Minute To Win It producer Craig Plestis.

The deal was brokered by Paradigm and Banijay International is launching the format at MIPCOM.

The series sees twenty people compete in two teams to live in the past and the future.

Mark Stern, president, original content, Syfy, and co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions, said: “Opposite Worlds has become an absolute phenomenon. This groundbreaking, edgy program is a remarkable television experiment transporting the audience and the contestants into starkly opposite worlds, simultaneously. This will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule which will fascinate Syfy viewers and invite them to play a part in the action and outcome.”
