China’s CCTV buys telenovela Eva Luna

CCTV has acquired the telenovela Eva Luna. The Chinese state broadcaster will air the Latin series on its drama channel CCTV-8, which will start showing it in early 2013.

The show is distributed by the sales arm of Venevision, which has edited the 100+ episode show into a 26x1hr format for CCTV. It is produced by the content arm of Cisneros-owned Venevision, Venevision Productions.

Set in LA and produced in the US, the show is a love story about Eva who travels to the US from Venezuela in search of a better life. It was a hit in the US on Univision.

Internationally, it has already been sold to broadcasters in Japan, Argentina, Israel, Spain, United Arab Emirates and Canada among others.
