Blinkbox snags The Newsroom download rights

Streaming and download service Blinkbox has taken download to own rights to HBO drama series The Newsroom.

In the UK the Aaron Sorkin newsroom drama is transmitted on the Sky Atlantic pay TV channel as part of the output deal between HBO and Sky.

The ten-episode series will be available to download via Blinkbox 30 days after it is carried on Sky and ahead of its release on DVD.

Blinkbox, which is backed by UK retail giant Tesco, already has several HBO series on its eservice including True Blood.

It is also about to launch comedy series Veep on a download to own basis.

Binkbox allows consumers to download content to PCs, Macs, connected TVs, Blu-Ray players, set top boxes and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games consoles.
