Sky buys NBC’s Dick Wolf firefighter drama Chicago Fire

UK pay TV channel Sky Living has acquired NBC’s firefighter drama Chicago Fire.

The series is produced by Dick Wolf’s (Law & Order) production company Wolf Films and Universal Television. It is distributed by NBCUniversal International Television, which inked the deal with Sky.

It is created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, the writing team behind movie 3:10 to Yuma.

Sky has already bought several of this year’s big US dramas.

It has picked up Warner Bros.-distributed The Following and Arrow as well as Sherlock Holmes series Elementary and Vegas from CBS Studios. Elementary will also be on Sky Living.

Sarah Wright, controller of acquisitions, Sky said: “We’re committed to bringing our customers the best in US programming and think Chicago Fire with its strong cast and fantastic talent behind the camera will really resonate with the Sky Living HD audience.”

In addition to Chicago Fire, Sky has also secured the UK premiere rights for seasons 3, 4 and 5 of the hit US series, Friday Night Lights for Sky Atlantic HD.
