Discovery commissions Shackleton series for its Western Europe channels

Discovery has ordered a three-part series about a team following in the footsteps of Polar explorer Ernest Shackleton.

Discovery Networks Western Europe has greenlit the 3x60mins series, Endurance In The Wake Of Shackleton, which will be produced by UK indie Raw TV.

Explorer Tim Jarvis will lead a six-man team who will be on board a replica of Shackleton’s boat The Endurance.

Dan Korn, senior VP, head of programming, Discovery Networks Western Europe, said: ” Discovery’s 2013 expedition will wage their strength, skill and toughness against the most powerful forces of nature to discover the secrets behind Shackleton’s survival and to see how they measure up against the heroes of a hundred years ago.”
