DHX takes Yo Gabba Gabba! from Zodiak and to Cannes

Canada-based distributor DHX has taken international rights to hit kids series Yo Gabba Gabba! and will start shopping it to buyers at MIPCOM next month.

The live-action series was created by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz and is produced by The Magic Store and Wildbrain Entertainment, which was acquired by DHX in late 2010.

The preschool show was previously sold by Zodiak Rights, but DHX has now taken international rights.

Zodiak sold the show to broadcasters including Tiji and Gulli in France, ABC in Australia and Disney in Latin America while handling distribution.

“We would like to thank Zodiak Rights for their contribution in building the international brand to date, and we are now focused on boosting the presence of Gabba in its existing territories as well as extending its reach into new markets,” said Steven DeNure, president and COO of DHX Media. “It’s a natural step for us to bring the international rights to Yo Gabba Gabba! in-house where we have the distribution and licensing resources to manage the brand globally.”
