Scorpion TV closes raft of titles ahead of MIPCOM

International distributor Scorpion TV has closed a raft of programming deals ahead of MIPCOM.

The company, run by David Cornwall, has closed deals for factual titles including Conquering the World, Attitude, Race and Intelligence: Science’s Last Taboo, Another Night on Earth and Defusing Human Bombs.

One-off doc Conquering the World, which tells the story of Richard Parks’ attempts to climb the highest summits on each of the world’s continents, has been acquired by Brazil’s Globosat, French Canada’s RDS and Austria’s Red Bull Media as well as airline programmer Spafax.

Canadian broadcaster Accessible Media has picked up 40 episodes of disability series Attitude, while Japanese public broadcaster NHK has bought Defusing Human Bombs.

Middle East network Al Hurra and China’s LIC have bought Race and Intelligence: Science’s Last Taboo and Al Arabiya News Channel in UAE and SIC in Portugal acquired the Egyptian taxi driver documentary Another Night on Earth.

Scorpion TV is also launching a raft of new titles at the market in Cannes including Ponsonby Productions’ intersex doc Intersexion, Buto Productions’ 20x30mins Ever Wondered, Schermerhorn Productions’ oil title The Naked Option and prison tattoo series Inside Tattooing.
